Notes: Although this EP was recorded by the original lineup in 1982, it was not released until 1983, by which point Tommy K had been replaced by Jon, and Mike Mansfield had temporarily left the band. Because the band photo intended for the cover did not come out well, a new photo was taken, featuring from left to right: Chris, a mannequin, Steve, and Jon. The original cover photo was never used. The cover art was done by Glenn Danzig.

Pressing:
1st: Version Sound (July 1982)
Notes: This compilation features a very early instrumental Mourning Noise recording, as well as a Suburbicide song with Steve Zing as the guest drummer. An early advertisement claimed that "Noise Records is now working on a second international hardcore compilation entitled Meathouse. It will be a double C60 cassette of up-and-coming bands from the U.S., Canada, and Europe." Instead, Version Sound released Meathouse 1, but never followed it with a sequel. A printing mistake caused The Scapegoats to be listed as a song by Red Scare and the two songs by The Scapegoats to be listed instead as one song ("I Like The Street" by The Fingers).

Time Line

02/06/1963 Peter "Damien" Marshall was born in Rutherford, NJ.
06/29/1964 Steve Zing was born in Lodi, NJ.
__/__/1980 Steve Zing, his cousin Jon Carcich, and Mike Mansfield played together for the first time. With Steve on drums, Jon on guitar and Mike on saxophone, they played The Misfits' "Teenagers From Mars."
__/__/1980 After meeting Chris Morance, Steve, Jon, Mike and Chris formed Implosion. Several of their songs became Mourning Noise songs.
06/__/1980 Chris Morance and Mike Mansfield graduated from Lodi High School.
08/__/1980 Implosion broke up after Mike enrolled in college.
02/__/1981 Steve met Tommy K (also known as Tommy Neo), who had played in Suburbicide before Steve recorded with the band. Steve, Tommy and Chris Morance approached Mike about performing some of their old Implosion songs. The new band took its name from Mike's college radio show, "Morning Noise."
06/__/1981 Joe Olivetti graduated from Lodi High School.
06/__/1982 Steve Zing graduated from Lodi High School.
09/08/1982 Mourning Noise played their first show.
06/__/1983 Jon returned from the Navy and joined Mourning Noise, playing rhythm guitar.
07/__/1983 Steve attended The Misfits' Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood recording sessions. Soon after this, Steve and Glenn began working on the first Samhain album.
Summer 1983 Steve joined Rosemary's Babies in the studio to record "Attack Of The Fifty Foot Cowboy."
08/__/1983 Tommy K left Mourning Noise to join Bedlam. Tommy Koprowski's work with Bedlam is featured on the Total Bedlam album (Buy Our Records: BOR-12-001), the New Jerserys' Got It? compilation album (Buy Our Records: BOR-12-003) from 1985, and the Lost In Space album (Buy Our Records: BOR-12-005) from 1986.
__/__/1984 Chris left Mourning Noise. Jon switched to bass, and Pete Marshall, who Steve had met at Bergen Community College, took over on guitar. Mike also left the band around this time. Steve, Pete and Joe Olivetti (later to become Joseph Jay of Chyna) entered the studio, overdubbing guitar and vocals on the tracks they had recorded for their upcoming album.
06/23/1984 Mourning Noise played its last show at The Ritz in New York, NY. After this show, Mourning Noise disbanded, as Steve and Pete had already joined Samhain. Joe Olivetti became Samhain's tour van driver and roadie.
05/08/1986 The original Mourning Noise lineup reunited to play live on WFMU.
__/__/1988 Steve Zing and Joe Olivetti formed Chyna. Early Chyna lineups also featured ex-Mourning Noise members Jon Carcich and Chris Morance (then known as Chris Marino).
05/08/1997 Mourning Noise played again at WFMU.
04/04/1998 More than a decade after they broke up, Mourning Noise released their first full-length album, Death Trip Delivery.
